Rain is expected in some areas today.
According to the Department of Meteorology, while most parts of Sri Lanka will experience fair weather, showers are forecast for several regions. The Northern and Eastern provinces will see multiple spells of rain, while the Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Southern provinces, along with the Nuwara-Eliya and Kandy districts, may experience showers or thundershowers, particularly in the evening or night.
Misty conditions are expected across most of the island in the morning.
In the sea areas, light showers are expected along the stretch from Batticaloa to Kankesanthurai, via Trincomalee. Showers or thundershowers may also occur in the sea areas off the coast between Kalutara and Hambantota, via Galle, during the evening or night.
Winds around the island will be North-easterly or variable in direction, with speeds of 20-35 km/h. The sea will remain slight to moderate, though temporarily strong gusty winds and rough seas may occur during thundershowers.
