Opposition Leader Urges Revival of Japan-Funded Projects

Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa met with Japanese Ambassador Akio Isomata yesterday. They discussed the revival of development projects. These projects were suspended under the previous government.

Premadasa expressed the Opposition’s commitment to supporting the revival of Japanese-funded projects, assuring full cooperation to facilitate their progress.

This meeting follows Japan’s recent statement. Japan will consider new projects in Sri Lanka only after reviewing requests from the Sri Lankan government. They will also evaluate the country’s economic situation.

The Japanese Embassy confirmed that its current priority is to complete 11 ongoing projects, including the Bandaranaike International Airport expansion, which are reportedly moving forward smoothly following debt restructuring discussions.
