Iran Warns Red Sea Shipping Could Be Disrupted Amid US Blockade
Iran’s military has issued a strong warning that international shipping routes in the Red Sea could also be disrupted if the U.S. blockade on Iranian ports continues.
The warning was delivered by Major General Ali Abdollahi, a senior commander of Iran’s armed forces, who described the U.S. move as a violation of the ceasefire agreement and an illegal action.
Although Iran does not directly control the Red Sea, analysts believe it could act through allied groups such as the Houthis in Yemen to carry out potential attacks in the region.
The statement has raised global concerns, as any disruption in Red Sea shipping would significantly impact international trade.
Meanwhile, despite U.S. claims of crippling Iran’s economy, some commercial shipping activity continues through the Strait of Hormuz.
