Batticaloa Murder Case: 4 Suspects Remanded, Jewelers Granted Bail
Four suspects arrested over the abduction and murder of women for their jewellery in Batticaloa have been further remanded until the 29th by the Magistrate’s Court.
The suspects were produced before Judge A. Tharsini despite a court holiday, considering the seriousness of the case.
Meanwhile, two jewellery shop owners accused of purchasing the stolen gold were granted bail.
The case came to light last month when an abducted young mother was rescued alive and another missing woman was found dead in an abandoned well in the Kokkatticholai area.
Investigations revealed that the victims were drugged, abducted, robbed of their jewellery, and then thrown into a well.
Six suspects, including three members of the same family from Vavunathivu, have been arrested in connection with the crime.
The Eastern Province Serious Crimes Division is continuing intensive investigations into the incident.
