President Anura condoles the demise of Manmohan Singh!
Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has condoled the demise of former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh on his Twitter account.
On my own behalf, I express my deepest condolences to the people of Sri Lanka, the Republic of India, the family of Dr. Manmohan Singh and all those who loved and respected him across the world.
Dr. Manmohan Singh’s leadership changed not only India but the world. During his tenure as Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014, he implemented many important reforms such as the Right to Education Act and the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. These demonstrate his commitment to equality and the welfare of the people.
His important initiatives in international cooperation have led to various collaborations with organizations such as BRICS. He demonstrated his excellent diplomacy through actions such as the India-US nuclear deal.
“His self-restraint, intelligence and generous dedication to public service will become a great example for future generations. May his soul rest in peace,” he wrote in the post.
