Thunderstorms in some parts of the country
In a new report issued by the Department of Meteorology today (28.11.2024), thundershowers are expected in some parts of the country.
It has been announced that there is a possibility of rain in many places in the Northern, North-Central and Eastern provinces, as well as in the Matale district. Furthermore, there is a possibility of rain or thundershowers in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, in the Galle, Matara, Nuwara Eliya and Kandy districts during the evening or night.
Fog may prevail in some parts of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, Southern and Uva provinces during the morning.
During the thunderstorms, temporary strong winds may also blow in those areas. The public has been urged to take precautionary measures to reduce the risk of lightning strikes.
