Captain Vijayakanth’s one-year anniversary – Food distribution to 25,000 people tomorrow
As it has been one year since the death of actor and DMK leader Captain Vijayakanth, the DMK party has decided to observe his memorial day as Guru Puja Day every year.
This year’s Guru Puja program will be held at Vijayakanth’s memorial in Koyambedu. Chief Minister M.K. Stalin, Opposition Leader Edappadi Palaniswami and all political party leaders have been invited. DMK Deputy Secretaries L.K. Sutheesh, Parthasarathy and Vijaya Prabhakaran have personally visited and handed over invitations.
Tomorrow, at 8.30 am, a peaceful procession will be held from the Election Commission office near the Koyambedu flyover under the leadership of DMK General Secretary Premalatha. Thousands of DMK executives will participate in this procession. Once the procession ends, tributes will be paid at Vijayakanth’s memorial.
On Vijayakanth’s memorial day, it has been decided that food will be provided to 25,000 people. A separate route has been set up for the public and volunteers to pay their respects and a separate route has been set up for important figures.
According to DMK Deputy Secretary L.K. Sudheesh, all arrangements have been made since a large number of people are going to participate in Vijayakanth’s memorial day. A heavy police presence has been arranged at the venue.
An invitation has been extended to TVK leader Vijay by DMK to participate in the function. Accordingly, Deputy General Secretary L.K. Sudheesh and Vijayakanth’s son Vijaya Prabhakaran have personally gone and extended the invitation to TVK leader Vijay.
