Police open fire on tipper vehicle in Point Pedro area
Jaffna – One person was injured when police opened fire on a tipper vehicle that was illegally transporting sand without a permit in the Point Pedro area.
The injured person has been admitted to the Point Pedro Base Hospital for treatment.
Police intercepted a tipper transporting sand on the Point Pedro – Ponnalai road this morning. The tipper was travelling in violation of police orders and was opened fire on the tipper.
One person escaped while another was injured.
The Point Pedro Police are conducting investigations into the incident.
