A mother and her daughter have died after being hit by a train while trying to take a selfie on the tracks near the Anuradhapura railway station.
The Anuradhapura Police said that the incident took place yesterday (22) afternoon.
They died after being hit by a high-speed train traveling from Kankesanthurai to Colombo.
The deceased are a 38-year-old mother and her 18-year-old daughter.
It is reported that they are from the Ratnapura area and had come to participate in a competition being held at the public sports stadium in Anuradhapura.
The Anuradhapura Police have launched investigations into the incident.
