High Court’s announcement regarding the scholarship exam!
The High Court has ruled that giving free marks for the three questions that were leaked in advance of the first question paper of the recently concluded Grade 05 scholarship exam is a violation of fundamental human rights.
In order to resolve this issue, the bench of judges has ordered the Commissioner General of Examinations to select the appropriate recommendation from the three recommendations presented by the experts and take steps to implement it.
Furthermore, the individuals suspected of being involved in the leak of these question papers, I.G.S. Premathilaka, were ordered to pay three million rupees and Chaminda Kumara Ilangasinghe two million rupees as compensation to the government.
The judgment was announced by a three-judge bench of the High Court comprising Justices Yasantha Kothagoda, Kumuduni Wickramasinghe and Arjuna Obeysekara, who heard four fundamental rights petitions filed by students who failed the examination and their parents.
