Fuel price revision today
Based on the monthly price formula, the revision in fuel prices is expected to take place at midnight today.
There were allegations from many quarters that the previous fuel price revision did not provide sufficient relief to the people.
The public alleged that the price increase has become a huge burden on the people despite facing maximum poverty and in areas where kerosene is used a lot.
Before the Anuradhapura government came to power, it had said that fuel prices could be reduced to a very low level. However, none of the price reductions expected by the people have been implemented.
Against this backdrop, economists have questioned whether the price revision to be held today will help the people as much as they expected.
When fuel prices were revised on November 30, the price of diesel was increased by Rs. 3 to Rs. 286. The price of a liter of octane 92 petrol decreased by Rs. 2 to Rs. 311.
The price of a liter of Super Diesel remained unchanged at Rs. 313 and the price of a liter of Octane 95 petrol was Rs. 371.
The price of a liter of Sri Lankan kerosene has been increased by Rs. 5 to Rs. 188.
