Extension of rice import permit!
The Cabinet has granted permission to extend the private sector’s rice import permit until January 10.
Cabinet Spokesperson and Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa announced this during a Cabinet press conference held today (24).
The government had granted permission to private and government importers to import rice until the 20th to address the rice shortage in the market.
During this period, a total of 67,000 metric tons of rice have been imported.
