Emotional Tsunami Commemoration in Pudukudiyiruppu
The 20th-anniversary commemoration of the tsunami victims was held with great emotion in Pudukudiyiruppu, Mullaitivu.
The commemoration began at 8:05 am today (26) under the organization of Vannikuros and the Tsunami Commemoration Organization.
A two-minute silence was observed for the victims at the Ayyanarkoviladi Tsunami Memorial in Pudukudiyurup, where the bodies of thousands of people who died in the tsunami are buried.
After this, a public flame was lit and floral wreaths were laid at the memorial obelisk.
Former Member of Parliament C. Sivamohan, former Pradeshiya Sabha members, representatives of social organizations, social activists and the public all participated in the event.
