Affordable school textbooks: New announcement
The government has announced that school text books and stationery will be sold to the market at affordable prices from the beginning of next year.
Minister Sunil Handunnethi made this statement while visiting the paper factory in Valachchenai yesterday (25).
The Minister said that steps are being taken to collect and recycle waste paper from government and private institutions at the Valachchenai paper factory and release textbooks and stationery to the market at affordable prices.
The Minister noted that the National Paper Corporation has been in a weak state for many years, which he had come across during his monitoring visit, and that efforts are being made to overcome the shortcomings that existed so far and to recruit new employees willingly.
