Colombo – An incident of cockroaches has been reported in a food item bought from a restaurant in Rathmalana, a suburb.
A person who went to a restaurant in the area bought snacks.
However, the man complained to the restaurant after he noticed dead cockroaches in the snack he bought.
However, the person mentioned on his Facebook page that no proper response was given.
Meanwhile, in many parts of the country, there has been an increase in the number of dead insects, lizards, fleas, rats and frogs in food products in recent days.
Lizard in tropical food
The news about the incident where a dead lizard was found in the tropical food that Ippaloka bought the day before was published.
A complaint was made to the shop owner, medical officer of health and public health inspector.
However, it has also been reported that a group attacked the people who complained.
Frog ice cream
Meanwhile, an incident was reported last week where ice cream was served with a frog at a soft drink outlet in Thondamanaru area of Jaffna.
The incident took place at a soft drink outlet in Thondamanar Selvachannidhi Murugan Temple.
A complaint has been lodged with the Public Health Inspector against the said soft drinks outlet.
It is to be noted that legal action has been taken against the soft drinks outlet.
Rats in the trolley shop
A video of rats in a food truck shop in the Kandy-Peradana area caused a stir.
Footage of rats eating food from the store was posted on social media.
It has been pointed out that such recent incidents have created fear among people about food safety.
