Trump Says US–Iran Talks May Resume in Pakistan Within Days
U.S. President Donald Trump has said that direct talks between the United States and Iran could resume in Pakistan within the next two days.
Speaking to a New York Post reporter over the phone, Trump said, “Something could happen in the next two days. We are very interested in going there.”
He also praised Pakistan’s Field Marshal Asim Munir for helping create a favorable environment for the potential negotiations.
The comments come amid a sharp rise in global oil prices following disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
Trump has been actively pushing to bring Iran back to the negotiating table after Saturday’s talks reportedly reached an impasse, while also criticizing European countries for not cooperating enough in the process.
