Sri Lanka vs Australia Test series begins today!

The first match of the two-match Test series between Sri Lanka vs Australia will begin today (29) at 10.00 am at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

In the absence of Pat Cummins, Steve Smith will lead the Australian team.

Australia, who won the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against India 3-1, have made it to the final of the World Test Championship (WTC). After this, Australia will face South Africa in the final at Lord’s from June 11-16.

Sri Lanka has lost 6 out of 11 matches in the 2023-2025 WTC cycle, thus giving up its chances of entering the WTC final. Therefore, Dhananjaya de Silva will lead the team for the Test series that begins today.

Australia has won 20 of the 33 Tests between them. Sri Lanka has won only 5 and 8 matches have ended in draws.

The Meteorological Department has predicted partly cloudy weather with a chance of rain in the Galle area, where today’s match will be played. As a result, the pitch is expected to be damp. This will provide some help to the bowlers early in the game.
