Sigiriya cannot be visited at night – new statement
The Ministry of Buddhist, Religious and Cultural Affairs has denied reports that the historic Sigiriya will be opened to tourists at night.
Ministry issued statement
No decision has been taken to open the Sigiriya fort at night, the ministry said in a statement issued today.
Responding to claims being made on social media that the fort is being illuminated with lights for night tourism, the ministry clarified that no such decision has been taken.
The Ministry of Buddhist, Religious and Cultural Affairs says that the picture of Sigiriya illuminated at night currently circulating on social media is also fake.
