Pattipongal festival at the Murugan temple in Eelam Tiruchendur

Hindus all over the world are celebrating Pattipongal, one of the main festivals of Tamils, today (15).

Accordingly, cows were decorated with silk clothes and garlands in the homes and temples of farmers in the Batticaloa district and Pattipongal poojas were performed in the cowsheds and homes.

Today, the Pattipongal festival was held in a special way at the Murugan temple in Tiruchendur, Batticaloa, which is revered as the Tiruchendur of Eelam. It is considered a day to worship and worship cows to express gratitude to the cow, who has become one with the people in their lives.

Cows were decorated in this temple, Pongal was poured and special poojas were performed for the cows. The worship was conducted under the leadership of the temple’s head priest, Siva Sri Ku. Sitsabesan, and a large number of devotees also participated in the event.

It is noteworthy that the Pattipongal festival was held under the theme ‘Let’s protect the cow that protects the clan’.
