Prime Minister’s New Year’s Message

“2024 was a year of real change for Sri Lankans. The people of the country chose to put aside their differences, come together, and embrace a clean and people-oriented political and cultural change,” the Prime Minister said in his New Year’s Message.

He further said in his message:

“As a responsible government, we are committed to advancing the country in the economy, industry, education and many other key sectors. Our aim is to create a future where every citizen, regardless of race, gender or religion, can live a peaceful, free, dignified and fulfilling life.

In the past, we had many opportunities to work together. But we did not succeed in taking full advantage of them. We must not miss such opportunities now, but work together. Even in these difficult times, the government is committed to serving the public. I would like to take you all at the beginning of this new year as we make steady progress in 2025.

Although this journey towards a prosperous future is fraught with challenges, we have taken several important steps towards achieving it. I hope that the blossoming 2025 will be a year of peace, happiness and prosperity for all citizens.

“To start the New Year with success and to create a better future for our country, I invite everyone to join us in our journey. Let us all work together to make the name ‘Sri Lanka’ even more glorious in the world.”
