Police open fire on lorry
A lorry stolen from the Wattala area of Colombo was travelling near the Kaduwela court when the police opened fire.
The lorry was fired upon for ignoring police orders. The owner had lodged a complaint with the police regarding the theft of the lorry.
The lorry was being transported from Nuwara Eliya to Colombo with vegetables when it was robbed.
When the police attempted to search the lorry in the Wellampitiya and Kaduwela areas, the driver tried to escape and was shot.
The lorry was stopped and the driver was arrested. A hand grenade was also seized from the driver.
