No objection to working with Adani Group – President

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has stated that the Sri Lankan government does not pay any attention to the transactions of the Adani Group with other countries.

The President made this observation in an exclusive interview with the Indian ‘Economic Times‘.

In this regard, he further stated:

“We are only concerned with our investments and development. The Sri Lankan government is not concerned with how the Adani Group engages with other countries.”

We are only concerned about the activities that the Adani Group carries out in the country. We do not have any objection to how they would have acted.”

While the Adani Group has made major investments in Sri Lanka, a case is being filed against the company in the United States. However, the Sri Lankan government does not see the company in the same light.

The Adani Group, which is overseeing the development of the Western Terminal at the Colombo Port, plans to make new investments in the energy sector. However, the project has faced opposition, with several environmental groups filing a lawsuit against it.

The President said that in this case, which is pending in court, the advantages and disadvantages of the project will be weighed and the public’s opinions will be heard before deciding which is best.
