Manmohan Singh passes away – 7-day mourning announced
Former Prime Minister and senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh (aged 92) was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi yesterday evening due to ill health. Despite intensive treatment, he succumbed to respiratory failure due to age, health problems and respiratory failure.
Following this, Manmohan Singh’s body has been kept at his residence in Delhi for public tributes. After the tributes, his body will be cremated with state honours tomorrow.
The central government has announced a 7-day mourning period after Manmohan Singh’s death. All events scheduled for today have been cancelled. As a measure of this, the national flag will be flown at half-mast in central government offices.
After this, a meeting of the Union Cabinet will be held at 11 am today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Modi to pass a condolence resolution on the death of Manmohan Singh.
