National Thai Pongal Festival to be held in Jaffna this time!
The Ministry of Buddhist, Religious and Cultural Affairs has decided to hold the National Thai Pongal Festival in Jaffna this time.
Accordingly, arrangements have been made to hold the National Thai Pongal Festival in Tellipallai, Jaffna on the 18th of January.
A discussion in this regard was held yesterday (26) under the chairmanship of the Minister of Buddhist, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hinithuma Sunil Senevi.
At this, Deputy Minister of Plantations and Social Infrastructure, Sundaralingam Pradeep, has requested that a large number of devotees representing Sri Lanka be included in the annual Sabarimala pilgrimage and that the government provide official sponsorship for it.
Minister Hiniduma Sunil Senavi has instructed officials of the Department of Hindu Religious and Cultural Affairs to take the necessary steps.
