International AIDS Day Awareness Procession in Batticaloa
On the occasion of International AIDS Day, an awareness procession was organized by the Batticaloa District Health Services Department yesterday (01).
The procession was guided by a team led by Batticaloa Regional Health Services Director Dr. A. Muraliswaran.
The procession started from near Gandhi Park in Batticaloa. It proceeded towards Batticaloa Public Market via Batticaloa City Circle, Bus Stand, and Thirumalai Road. Then, it proceeded towards Thandavanveli via Thirumalai Road. From there, the procession ended at the Regional Health Services Department.
At this event, explanations were given regarding HIV infection and AIDS, and awareness programs were held on safe sex. Furthermore, stickers saying “Let’s prevent HIV and AIDS” were pasted at prominent places, on buses and three-wheelers to create awareness among the people.
Various parties including Batticaloa Nursing Schools, Regional Health Services Department, doctors, and public health inspectors participated in the event.
