Those who observed Heroes’ Day should be arrested immediately: Strong pressure on the Anura government
Former MPs Sarath Weerasekara and Udaya Gammanpila have made a request to the Anura government. They urged the government to arrest those who commemorated LTTE members. This commemoration occurred on social media and in public places in the North and East on Heroes’ Day.
They told the media: “The Anura government should not give new life to the dead LTTE. The Anura government has given more features to the national people’s power in the North and East and has given permission to the people to celebrate the birthday of the LTTE leader and Heroes’ Day.”
They added: “With this permission, the Anura government is giving a debt of gratitude to the Tamil people. The people in the South should fight against this decision.”
