Changes in prices of essential commodities
It has been reported that the prices of essential commodities will decrease in Sri Lanka.
The Cabinet headed by President Ranil Wickramasinghe has discussed reducing the prices of all essential commodities and providing relief to the people before the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebrations.
The Minister of Agriculture and Horticulture, Mahinda Amaraweera, said this in a discussion held at the Ministry of Agriculture yesterday (14).
Apart from this, the government has also focused on reducing the duties imposed on many imported goods. In this regard, the Minister has said that there will be no price increase in the near future, only price reduction will be done.
Also, it is reported that discussions were held regarding limiting the import of coconut oil and improving the quality of local coconut oil products.
