Discussion regarding the second phase of the Aswesuma welfare scheme

A discussion to carry out the second phase of Ashwesuma Welfare Project was held yesterday (13.02.2024) under the leadership of the State Finance Minister Sehan Semasinghe.

The discussion was held at the New Auditorium of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Stabilization and National Policies located at Colombo – 01.

Northern Province Governor PSM Charles participated in this discussion.

Ashwesuma Welfare Project has been promoted nationwide and it is planned to start the second phase of this project on 15th of this month.

A discussion was held with the aim of getting the cooperation of the provincial councils for this project, which is being carried out with the cooperation of the Divisional Secretariats and District Secretariats.

During the first phase of the Aswesuma welfare scheme, 1.1 million appeals were received nationwide. State Finance Minister Sehan Semasinghe mentioned that the Northern Province was the first to complete the appeal hearings and complete the beneficiaries’ data.

The Honorable Governor of Northern Province P.S.M. said that the data of low income families in Northern Province is ready and it will be easier to select new users through this. Charles said.

The Governor also mentioned that by supervising this project, the target can be achieved. Also, steps have been taken to carry out sustainable development projects for low-income families, Northern Maga Governor B.S.M. Charles said.
