Atalugama girl’s death that rocked the nation: 27 years of rigorous imprisonment for the culprit

The criminal involved in the murder of a 9-year-old girl named Ayesha in Attalukama area in 2022 has been sentenced to 27 years of rigorous imprisonment.

This judgment has been given by the Panandurai High Court.

In its verdict, the court has announced that the mother of the deceased girl should be paid Rs 30 lakh as compensation.

This murder incident which took place in Bandaragama, Attalukama last year in 2022 was recorded as a brutal incident that shook the entire country.

A 9-year-old girl, Fatima Ayesha, who went to a shop near her home to buy chicken, went missing and was found dead in a swamp near her home the next day.

In connection with the incident, a friend of the girl’s father was arrested on suspicion and while investigations were being carried out, the suspect had admitted the crime and given a statement.

In this situation, the court has sentenced the suspect to rigorous imprisonment yesterday.
