Action to discipline teachers based on appointments – Honorable Governor of Northern Province
A review meeting regarding the educational development of Northern Province was held today (06.02.2024) at Vavuniya Cultural Hall.
The meeting was chaired by the Honorable Governor of Northern Province BSM Charles, Education Minister Kalanithi Susil Premajayantha, State Minister Kadar Mastan, officials of the Union Ministry of Education, officials of the Provincial Ministry, educational officers, principals, teachers and many others participated in the meeting.
Education Minister Susil Premajayantha said that he will take all necessary measures to address the problems found in the education sector of the Northern Province.
Thanking the Minister for his actions, the Honorable Governor of the Northern Province clarified about the problems prevailing in the province and the needs of the education sector.
Accordingly, the Honorable Governor requested that the Union Ministry of Education should take steps to provide necessary facilities to all the schools located in the backward areas. The Hon’ble Governor said that measures should be taken to distribute resources equally and the Provincial Ministry of Education is working with dedication for this.
Also, the Honorable Governor said that in the districts of Vavuniya, Mannar, Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi there is a shortage of physical resources and a shortage of teachers and some schools have more teachers than required.
The Hon’ble Governor said that the Provincial Ministry of Education has collected data regarding this matter and steps have been taken to appoint the teachers who have been appointed on the basis of the syllabus for the respective subjects.
The Honorable Governor of the Northern Province BSM Charles also pointed out that through this, steps have been taken to provide solutions to the problems faced by students studying in schools where there is a shortage of teachers.
