I want a billion dollars and a beautiful woman! – Ugandan army commander threatens Turkey
Uganda’s army chief, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has stirred international controversy after making an unusual demand directed at Turkey.
In a post on X, Kainerugaba called on Turkey to provide him with $1 billion and arrange marriage with “the most beautiful woman” in the country.
Kainerugaba, the son of President Yoweri Museveni and widely seen as a potential future leader, claimed the demand was compensation, alleging Turkey benefits economically while Ugandan troops carry out security operations in Somalia.
He warned that if the demands are not met within 30 days, Uganda could cut diplomatic ties with Turkey, ban Turkish Airlines from its airspace, and shut down the Turkish embassy in Kampala.
This is not the first such controversy involving Kainerugaba. In 2022, he made headlines after offering 100 cows to marry Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni and threatened to “capture Rome” if rejected.
The latest remarks have triggered widespread criticism and debate internationally.
