Family lets snake-bitten boy float in river due to superstition – 14-year-old dies in shock incident

A shocking incident has been reported from Uttar Pradesh, India, where a 14-year-old boy lost his life after his family followed a dangerous superstition instead of seeking medical help.

The victim, identified as Amit, was bitten by a snake on April 9 while playing in a garden in Pithampur village, Amroha district.

Instead of rushing him to a hospital, his parents reportedly sought help from a local occult practitioner. The so-called healer claimed that the snake venom could be neutralized if the boy was set afloat in the Ganges River.

Believing this, the family tied Amit’s body to bamboo sticks and left him floating in the river for nearly 12 hours.

When the boy showed no signs of movement even after several hours, he was finally taken to a hospital. However, doctors confirmed that he had already passed away.

Videos related to the incident have since surfaced on social media, sparking widespread shock and outrage. Police have launched an investigation into both the family and the occult practitioner, according to Indian media reports.
