Special train services for those wishing to return home during the New Year holidays
Special train services will be operated from April 10 to 19 to ease the passenger congestion during the upcoming Sinhala and Tamil New Year period.
Accordingly, special trains will be operated from Colombo Fort to Anuradhapura and from Kankesanthurai to Anuradhapura.
In addition, additional services will be operated between Maradana, Matara and Beliatta on April 10, 11, 12, 15 and 18 for southbound journeys.
In response to long-standing demand from passengers, the ‘Rajarata Regina’ train, which was operated between Beliatta and Mahawa, has been extended to Anuradhapura daily from today (April 09).
Similarly, the office train from Colombo Fort to Mahawa will be extended to Anuradhapura during the New Year holidays and additional services will be provided.
To ensure a comfortable journey for passengers, First Class reserved seating compartments have been newly added to some of these special trains.
