Shreenali Fonseka Denies Link to Kehel Bathra Padmew Following CID Interrogation
Popular actress and model Shreenali Fonseka has categorically denied knowing the currently jailed suspect Kehel Bathra Padmew, following an interrogation by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). She also dismissed the recent media reports connecting her to the arrested underworld figure as untrue.
Background of the Investigation
The CID launched an investigation into the actress after news reports alleging a connection between her and Kehel Bathra Padmew surfaced in the media.
Fonseka was summoned to the CID to record a statement after a photograph showing her with Kehel Bathra Padmew became public.
She went to the Colombo Crime Division to provide her statement yesterday (October 27).
Fonseka’s Explanation
Speaking to the media after giving her statement, Shreenali Fonseka completely rejected the claims linking her to Kehel Bathra Padmew.
“I do not know Kehel Bathra Padmew,” she stated. “I attended a New Year’s event in Dubai once with my family. Many people took photos with us. He might have been one of them.”
She firmly added, “I know what is being said on social media, but I will not allow rumours to tarnish my name or my reputation.”
It is noteworthy that another model, Piumi Hansamali, was also interrogated by the CID last week regarding the same matter.
