Provincial Council Elections in September! – Government’s Decision
The government led by President Anura Kumara has decided to hold local government elections in April next year and provincial council elections in September, according to a Colombo media report.

Reliable sources have informed that the government has decided on the dates for the local government elections and provincial council elections to be held next year. Accordingly, the government’s planning states that the local government elections, which have been postponed for the past, will be held in early April, and the provincial council elections will be held in September after 7 years.
It has been reported that the legal procedures for this are being completed quickly and necessary steps are being taken.
