Prime Minister Harini Celebrates New Year with Children in Gampaha
Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya took part in Sinhala and Tamil New Year cultural celebrations held in Gampaha under the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.
The event was conducted during the auspicious New Year time at the Sri Sunandarama Vihara in Medagama, where the Prime Minister engaged in religious observances and received blessings from senior monks.
She later participated in a cultural celebration hosted at a local residence, where she planted a sapling along with Ministers Sunil Senevi and Vijitha Herath.
The Prime Minister also joined children in traditional New Year games and spent time guiding them in reading and learning activities during the auspicious time.
The celebrations concluded with customary rituals, including gift exchanges and the traditional New Year meal, while she extended New Year wishes to the public and thanked Sri Lankans at home and abroad for their contribution in facing national challenges.
