Officials of government agencies don’t answer phone calls – Study informs
A study conducted by the Department of Economics and Statistics at the University of Peradeniya has confirmed that 49% of the phones provided to government officials for personal use to make public services more efficient are out of order.
Professor Vasantha Athukorala said that this situation is seen from village officers to Samurthi officers, development officers and divisional secretariat officers.
The survey conducted with a sample of 589 government officials nationwide further confirmed that 22% of officials do not answer phone calls.
According to this, only 29% government officials could be contacted for necessary government services.
Also, it has been revealed that landline phones of government agencies across the country are not responding properly to people.
