No need to go to Colombo to get a passport – office in Jaffna
National People’s Power’s Jaffna District Parliamentarian K. Ilangumaran has stated that a decision has been taken to establish a new passport office in Jaffna.
He made the following remarks while participating in a private media event.
Easy way to obtain a passport
He said, “As the country faces an economic downturn, more and more people are trying to go abroad, which has led to a crisis in obtaining a passport. In this situation, we have created and issued a new passport that is friendly and united, as an example to the world.”
Comrade Ilangumaran further said, “We have taken steps to facilitate the easy acquisition of a passport. Passports and identity cards will soon be available in Jaffna.”
Similarly, he said, “People spend a lot of money traveling from Jaffna to Colombo to obtain a passport and are being cheated by some agents.”
