Major Drug Bust in Point Pedro: Three Arrested
Police in Point Pedro, Jaffna, successfully seized a large haul of Kerala Ganja yesterday afternoon, recovering 47 packages weighing over 100 kilograms. The illicit consignment is estimated to be worth more than 3 crore rupees.
The bust occurred in the Pedro sea area when a team, led by Point Pedro Police Station Officer-in-Charge Priyantha Amarasinghe, conducted a cordon and search operation. They intercepted a group of suspects attempting to unload the Kerala Ganja from a boat.
Authorities successfully apprehended all three suspects involved in the smuggling operation and seized the boat along with the 47 packages of cannabis.
The police are now preparing to produce the arrested individuals, the confiscated drugs, the boat, and all other evidence before the court for legal action.
