Heavy rains to continue: Warning issued
The Department of Meteorology has issued a warning that heavy rains exceeding 100 millimeters are likely to occur at some places in the Eastern, Uva, Central and Southern provinces and the Polonnaruwa district.
The Department of Meteorology stated this in a statement issued today (15). Occasional rain or thundershowers are expected in most parts of the country and the sky is expected to be cloudy.
Strong winds and lightning strikes
Strong winds at a speed of 30-40 kmph are likely to occur in the Northern, Eastern, North-Central, North-Western and Uva provinces and in the Matara and Hambantota districts.
It is noteworthy that the public has been requested to take adequate precautionary measures to minimize the damage caused by temporary strong winds and lightning strikes during thunderstorms.
