Fishermen’s vigilance rally demanding the fulfillment of five-point demands!
Today, the fishermen took out a vigil to demand the fulfillment of their five-point demands. The rally started in front of the Jaffna District Secretariat and proceeded to the Northern Province Governor’s Secretariat.
Later, a Magajar, a Magajar and a Magajar, were handed over to the Deputy Secretary of the Governor to be forwarded to the President through the Governor.
The five-point demands included in that mahajar
- Rejection of the newly drafted Fishermen Bill
- Stopping import of foreign fish
- Foreign boats should not be allowed to fish in Sri Lankan waters.
4.Demand for compensation for damage caused to Sri Lankan fishermen by foreign boats
5.Request for revision of the budget for the fishermen.
Urkhavatthurai Fisheries Samas Secretary A. Annarasa, Kilinochchi District Samas President Joseph Francis, Mullaitivu District Fishermen Samas President M. Thanikasalam, Mannar District Fishermen Samas President Raja Gurus, Mannar District Divisional Samas President, J. Jokaraj and representatives of fishermen organizations were discussed in this vigilance rally.
