According to the Department of Meteorology, hot weather is expected to prevail in many parts of Sri Lanka till the coming May.
It has been mentioned that the temperature of 36.8 degrees Celsius has been recorded in Colombo district in the last twenty four hours.
According to the Department of Meteorology, some parts of the districts of Galle, Colombo, Matara, Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Hambantota and Ratnapura have recorded heat higher than the heat felt by the human body.
In this situation, the Department of Meteorology has requested the public to follow the appropriate measures to reduce the damage caused to the human body due to excessive heat.
Also, the Ministry of Education has advised all schools to refrain from engaging students in sports events or sports practices and other outdoor activities in any school in the country today and tomorrow in case of high temperature.
