State Oil Anointing Ceremony Held in Kandy Under President Anura
The 2026 state oil anointing ceremony was held ceremonially this morning in Kandy at the historic Sri Dalada Maligawa and Sri Maha Natha Devalaya, with the participation of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
At the auspicious time of 6:55 a.m., the Mahanayake Thero of the Asgiri Chapter, Most Venerable Warakagoda Sri Gnanarathana Thero, performed the traditional oil anointing ritual and blessed the President.
The Maha Sangha chanted seth pirith, invoking blessings for the President and the entire nation.
Prior to the ceremony, the President engaged in religious observances at the temple and later interacted with the public gathered at the venue, inquiring about their well-being.
Several dignitaries, including Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa and the Central Province Governor, were also in attendance.
The President expressed hope that this auspicious New Year ritual would bring prosperity and well-being to the country.
