President Anura Wishes Peaceful and Joyful Sinhala–Tamil New Year

President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has extended his heartfelt wishes for a peaceful and joyful Sinhala and Tamil New Year.

In his New Year message, he described the festival as an important cultural event that symbolizes both physical and spiritual renewal.

He noted that the celebration—marked by traditional rituals, auspicious timings, and religious observances—brings together all communities and reflects the nation’s identity and cultural unity.

The President also expressed confidence that Sri Lanka’s future development should be aligned with its rich cultural values and historical heritage, adding that development plans are being designed with these foundations in mind.

He emphasized that the spirit of unity, sharing, and mutual respect seen during the New Year should continue throughout the year.

Recalling how the nation collectively faced natural disasters and external challenges last year, he urged citizens to remain united in overcoming future challenges.

Concluding his message, he called on everyone to work together toward the vision of a “prosperous nation and a beautiful life,” while extending warm New Year greetings to all.
