Online financial Scam on the rise!
The Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Readiness Team (SLCERT) has warned that online financial scams are rising during the Christmas and New Year festivities.
During these times, the public receives virtual calls claiming to have won prizes, which is a way to defraud them financially, said Nirosh Ananda, Chief Information Security Officer of SLCERT.
He also said that some of the frauds are carried out using artificial intelligence (AI) technology and that many complaints have been received in this regard.
In this context, he also called on the public to be vigilant about such online financial frauds.
