Former Senior Lecturer, Jaffna University Department of Education, Kalanidhi Dhampiiah Kalamani passes away
Kalanidhi Dhampiiah Kalamani, one of the educational scholars of Vadamaratsi region and former senior lecturer of Jaffna University Education Department passed away at the age of 72 on Saturday (10) early morning.
Hailing from Alwai South, Annar did his primary education at Vathiri Devaraiyali Hindu College and his secondary education at Nelliadi Central College. He graduated from the university and became a bachelor.
He joined the Faculty of Arts as a part-time lecturer at the University of Jaffna.
After pursuing higher studies and obtaining a degree in finance, he worked for a long time as a senior lecturer in the Department of Education at the University of Jaffna.
He is very involved in the field of art and literature and has produced and acted in many epic mythological dramas including Kathavarayan.
A father of three, one of his sons, Paranidharan, has been publishing a literary monthly called Jeevanathi for the past few years.
Kalamani’s father was Bhutha Annaviar of Thambiaiya fame.
He had been suffering from ill health for the past few years and died suddenly yesterday (10) morning. His last rites were held at his residence yesterday (10) evening.
