Will the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination be cancelled? – Prime Minister
Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasooriya has stated that if the Grade 5 Scholarship Examination is to be cancelled, the gap between schools must be closed.
She met with provincial education leaders at Temple Trees and discussed the country’s future education plans.
At the event, she said that people have been demanding the cancellation of the Grade 5 Scholarship and that it is causing mental distress to children.
However, she said that to achieve this, the gap between schools must be closed.
She also warned that if decisions are taken legally or politically without providing solutions to educational problems, there is a possibility of crises in the country.
To avoid such situations, she said that we are trying to bring a common education system for children facing the examination under the common examination system and we are trying to strengthen the decision-making mechanism.
“This is not for the decisions of an individual politician, minister or secretary, but we are trying to set up a process for decisions to be made based on data,” he said.
