Cleaning work of the Navy at St. Anthony’s Church in Kachchathivu ahead of the 2024 festival
The Marines are busy making preparations for the 2024 Utsavam to be held on the 23rd and 24th of the year 2024 at the historic Kachchathivu St. Anthony’s Church.
Kachchadivu is located near the maritime boundary line of Sri Lanka and India. The main service of the annual festival will be presided over by Reverend Father Justin Gnana Prakasam of Jaffna Diocese.
The Navy is currently engaged in the work of making the necessary arrangements for the welfare of the devotees in terms of infrastructure and facilities.
Under the command of Commander of the Sri Lankan Navy, Vice Admiral Priyantha Perera, and under the supervision of the Commander of the Northern Fleet, Rear Admiral Kanchana Panagoda, the Navy is actively engaged in infrastructure work.
This includes ensuring sanitation and drinking water facilities, temporary shelters, roads, landing strips and electricity supply.

Teams and medical teams are being led by the Sri Lankan Navy.
