Changes to be made at Jaffna International Airport
Reports have emerged that the government is taking steps to expand the Jaffna International Airport.
International aviation experts say that among the existing international airports in Sri Lanka, Mattala International Airport is not suitable for regular air traffic, except for emergency landings.
Based on this, the government has shown interest in expanding and improving Sri Lanka’s other two international airports, Katunayake Airport and Palaly International Airport.
Currently, the second terminal of Katunayake Airport and its surrounding areas are being developed with the financial assistance of the Japanese government.
Similarly, reports indicate that the development work of Palaly Airport will commence soon.
