Jaffna Queen Train Service Suspended Until Further Notice

The Railway Department has announced that the Jaffna Queen Train Service will not operate until further notice.

The Regional Railway Manager has stated that the train service cannot be operated due to a broken engine that has been stopped in Anuradhapura.

He said that the train can be repaired by sending it to Ratmalana and that it is not possible to say how long it will take.

This service was started by the efforts of former Minister Douglas Devananda during his tenure as the Chairman of the Kilinochchi District Coordination Committee.

It is noteworthy that this service was started on July 11, 2022, for the benefit of government servants, private sector employees, university lecturers, employees and students who travel from Jaffna to Kilinochchi district for work every day.
